The Exciting Work I've Done

I did quite a bit of work for my mom's fitness business throughout my childhood and even through high school. I made posters and handouts, helped organize registration cards, helped with computer problems, and other odds and ends.

Aside from that, I've worked a few different jobs. The first, and second, summer job I had was at a small town newspaper called The Ravena News-Herald. The newspaper was down the street from my grandmother in Ravena, NY, which worked out great because I used to spend all my summers there.

The Ravena News Herald was a great opportunity for me because I was actually writing articles and not just the editor's gofer. As I said it was a small town, so I covered town meetings and a new clinic being built. But, it was impressive that I was the only front page writer other than the Editor in Chief. I had a lot of fun and the people there were great to work with!

Another summer job I had was at Islander Pools in Colonie, NY. My best friend Tara worked there and her relatives owned the store, so I decided to look there for a job. It was like a big family there and we had so much fun! The job itself was boring, stocking shelves, working the cash register, but I learned a lot about pools and working with the general public. If you have any questions about chemcials for your pool, I can probably answer them for you!

If I had another opportunity I would work there again. But, I didn't work there again because the following summer I decided to stay in Boston. I ended up taking two summer classes at Bentley, so I worked on campus in the Center for Executive and Professional Education. I was an office assistant and worked for the several different secretaries in that department - I helped with a massive filing project as well. They were a great bunch of people to work with.

The following summer I intended to get an internship, but that didn't work out so worked at the Center for Executive and Professional Education again.  But I was not just the office assistant.  I worked as the Registration and Marketing Assistant, in charge of sending out brochures to all prospective students, registering/dropping students into or out of classes.  It was a lot of fun and again, the group there is the best group of people to work with.  If you're looking for a job at Bentley, check to see if they have an opening because you'll love it.

Those are all the jobs I've worked at throughout my life. They might not seem like the most exciting jobs in the world, but the people I worked with made them fun experiences and I wouldn't trade them for anything. In each one I learned something about other people or myself. My next job will hopefully be at a newspaper, as a reporter!

Feel free to take a look at my resume.
